We are looking to bring Grassroots
football back into the Baguley community with the reintroduction of our
successful junior team. |

Why were they
successful ? |
|

|
|
|
|
| |
|
They were renamed Baguley Athletic in
2004, and the same season, they finished 3rd in the Stockport Metro Division
4 - this was a huge improvement on the previous seasons lowly 12th (bottom
place) and near league disqualification |

The following season 2005 / 2006, they
continued their fine run of form to be crowned Division 4 Champions - still
with 6 games to go ! |

A promising start and end to the
Division 3 campaign helped Baguley clinch the Championship on a tense last
day decider - their 2nd league championship in 2 years |

Following the disastrous season as
Woodhouse Park United (2003/2004), Paul Stewart was appointed as the new
Under 14s manager for the 2004/2005 season. Stewart quickly bolstered
the squad with new signings. Legendary Club Captain Matthew Davenport
became his first signing (a massive addition due to him playing for a team 3
divisions higher). Long serving players such as Martyn Story, Chris
Wallis and Reece White were used as the backbone to success. These
players went on to win a number of awards and 2 championship trophies with
the team. Scott McGahey was a solid performer between the posts, with
many other clubs envious of such a talent. He would later leave to
join Wythenshawe Amateurs as their number 1. After a disappointing cup
exit, Stewart bolstered his squad with the signings of Clarke Broderick -
who would go on to form a solid defensive partnership with Matthew Davenport
- and Glenn Stobo - scoring 2 goals on his debut and never looking back as
he managed to bag a record 158 league and cup goals in just under 3 seasons.
Billy Stobo was added to the coaching team, becoming head coach a year
later, and helping the club to 2 successful championships. |

Following the departure of McGahey,
Steven Richards was brought in as his replacement. Fortunately for
Baguley he turned out to be just the right player to fill the number 1
shirt. The previous season was seen as successful, but Stewart knew
his players could go on and win the league without needing to add any new
players. A few fringe players were added however to help the squad to
cope with injuries, as Baguley Athletic went on to win the championship,
breaking a number of records on the way. |

Now in Division 3, Stewart looked to
bring in players from higher divisions, to help with the assault on another
championship. Having heard about the collapse of local rivals Lisbon
St. Anthony's', Stewart added Tom Holmes to his squad - he had been a keen
admirer of his abilities since playing Lisbon in a number of friendlies.
Along with Holmes, Stewart added another full back in Jake Ashcroft, who was
the teams most consistent performer, appearing in all of his sides league
and cup games, and picking up managers player of the year in his first
season. Rico To and Danny Holdsworth were brought in from Baguley
Juniors to form a dynamic midfield partnership with Story, Wallis and Osebi
Abedeki. With the new players bringing a higher level of football to
the team, Baguley Athletic went on to clinch the 3rd Division title on a
tense last day of the season. They beat rivals High Lane Juniors 1 - 0
to the championship. |
